Severe Storms Devastate West Michigan, Leaving a Trail of Destruction

Extensive Damage Reported

Homes and businesses in Three Rivers and Marcellus have sustained extensive damage after severe storms tore through the area on Tuesday. Tornados were responsible for the widespread destruction, uprooting trees, damaging buildings, and leaving behind a trail of debris.

State of Emergency Declared

In response to the catastrophic damage, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency. The declaration allows state resources to be mobilized to assist with recovery efforts and provide support to affected communities.

Assessing the Damage

As of Wednesday, surveyors are working to determine the severity of the damage caused by the storms. The City of Portage is one of the hardest-hit areas, with reports of significant structural damage to both residential and commercial buildings.

Tornado Warnings Issued

Officials confirmed that at least seven tornadoes touched down in Michigan during the storms. The tornadoes were part of a severe weather system that brought high winds and heavy rain to the region. Tragically, the storms claimed the lives of five people.
